For the design and construction of the Hudson Transmission Project, HTP intends to engage a consortium of two highly experienced and qualified international companies, Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution and Prysmian Cables and Systems.  A similar consortium of Siemens and Prysmian was engaged for the design and construction of the Neptune Project, which was completed ahead of schedule and on budget and has an excellent performance record since beginning operation in June 2007.  The consortium will perform the work under an Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) contract under which the consortium will be responsible for engaging all subcontractors necessary to accomplish the job.

Siemens is a worldwide technology provider in a number of key industries, including energy. Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution was responsible for the high voltage conversion equipment for the Neptune transmission project, and simultaneously built and provided equipment for the two Neptune converter stations on Long Island and Sayreville, New Jersey.

Prysmian is a worldwide supplier of cable systems for energy, telecommunications, and fiber optics, with a specialization in the manufacture and installation of undersea cable.  Prysmian supplied 65 miles of high-voltage cable for the Neptune Project – 50 miles of which was buried under the sea – as well as installation of the cable.

In addition to the consortium of Siemens and Prysmian, HTP has engaged ESS Group, Inc. as its environmental consultant for the purpose of obtaining major permits for the Hudson Project.  ESS is a full-service environmental and engineering firm that previously provided environmental services for a proposed cable project that was similar in many respects to Hudson, and which obtained necessary permits from New York, New Jersey and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
